I may (or may not) have a slight obsession with navy and white stripes. There, I said it. In fact it’s so bad (or not so bad, really) that The Boy has even noticed! (eek!) But the GOOD thing about this obsession, is that navy and white stripes will NEVER be out of fashion – it’s a classic Spring trend that always carries through for summer.

The added bonus is that navy and white stripes suit EVERYBODY! Blonde, brunette, redhead – pear-shaped, hourglass or column  there is a navy and white striped SOMETHING out there for you.

Here is my current fave. This dress in ON SALE at the moment from Jacqui E…  for $75!!!! Quick! Run! Don’t walk – you need this dress now!

Love me some maxi dress action!

So when wearing a classic trend like ‘nautical stripes’ I like to try and change it up, just a little – so instead of the good ole ‘Navy + White + Red’, I decided to pair my navy and white stripes with a bright orange instead.

Necklace from Sefan (yes, the hairdressers!) but you can find similar at Diva etc and shoes from Novo Shoes

And by wearing the colour at the top and at the bottom of my silhouette (we call this ‘Top and Tailing’) it draws the eye up and down in a vertical line – making us look slimmer! (Remember, it’s all about mis-direction when dressing for your shape!)

Rather than going toooo overboard with the colour, I decided on just a metallic ring set.

As a rule, if you are playing with colour when you accessorise, I tend to only wear TWO peices in the same colour (rather than three or four, which can look a little over the top). The TWO pieces compliment each other, and make everything else that is going on in between the two make sense (does that make sense?).

Do you have a slight pattern/print obsession like me? I’d love to hear about it! post in the comments below or leave a pic on my Facebook page here!
