I recently put a little question out on my Facebook page, asking all you gorgeous rascals what you wanted to see MORE of on the blog – after all, you guys are the reason I write the blog in the first place!
I got some AWESOME feedback, and one of the things you guys asked for, was MORE outfit posts, specifically for different occasions and events. So this post is the first in a new series called “What to Wear”.
Each week I’ll be bringing you some ideas on what to wear on a specific occasion or to a certain event. If you’d like to submit a particular situation, please either leave a comment below, or shoot me an email on caitlin@chasingcait.com
This post was requested by Caitlin Harsant (hola Caitlin, snaps on the name!) and she wants to know what to wear to a job interview – she wants to still look young, but professionally at the same time, so Caitlin, here’s what to wear……
SHOP THIS LOOK:
Portmans dress $99.95 (size 6-16) | Colette handbag $49.95 | Number One Shoes pumps $ (size 6-11) | Colette necklace $12.95 | Maybelline lip colour $14.99 (pink and proper)
You want to appear professional, but with a little personality. Err on the side of conservative with a dress below the knee, and with a small sleeve, mid-height plain heels and a simple, classic bag. Keep your makeup and hair neat and classic, without going OTT (over the top for those of us who were born before 1990…..)
You can add your own stamp with a pop of colour in jewellery, but nothing to big and definitely no bling!

SHOP THIS LOOK:
Portmans pants $79.95 (size 6-16) | Decjuba leather jacket $209.95 (size 8-14) | Mischief shoes $169.90 (size 36-40) | Specsavers glasses $369 | Shellac colour asphalt (available at all good nail salons)
If you are applying for something a little more creative, YOU can be a little more creative. Have fun with print and colour, and let your true self shine! Just make sure you are still professional – not too much skin, nothing too tight, and heels that are an appropriate height. A bright lippy or a dark nail would not be out of place, just make sure it’s done well!

So that gives you a couple of options on what to wear SHOULD you have a job interview coming up. I also thought THIS article on what colours to wear to job interviews I was sent by a reader the other day was really interesting – worth a read!
NOTE: if you are reading this at work, make sure your boss doesn’t see – they could take it the wrong way! eek!
Do you agree? Any other suggestions for fellow readers? Particularly if you are an employer! I’d love to know what you think – tell me in the comments below.
Until next time,
In Love & Style Always
Cait xoxo

As an employer – my biggest tip is to be dressed to suit the job. A lot of times I have potential employees turn up in sky high heels that they can barely walk in. My first thought is how are they going to walk all over properties doing inspections? I know it is probably not going to day to day but what is so awful about what they normally wear, they can’t wear it to an interview? Small things but …
Also if you are not sure … stalk the business. Facebook/Instagram/Twitter and company websites have so much info available and will give you some insight.
AWESOME tips Kelly! People get it so wrong don’t they – the whole idea is to NOT draw attention to what you are wearing in a job interview, therefore it should be professional yet comfortable – let your qualifications do that talking!
I love the stalking idea too!! 🙂
