You’ve probably heard me say before that accessories really can make an outfit. They are such a great way to add a pop of colour and personality with very little effort (they are also great for zoom calls…. very 2020)
I’m often being asked where to find cool statement earrings so I wanted to share a whole bunch of my favourite brands – most of these are amazing hand-made creations by local NZ women, so I’m even more excited to share them!
So here are some of my favourite places to get your hands on your own statement earrings, show so love for some NZ small businesses.
Simple Mayhem – https://simplemayhem.co.nz/
This NZ-owned online store is run by two lovely sisters, Louise and Carol who wanted to bring some fun and colour into women’s lives! They have so many gorgeous brands, with bright and bold pieces to choose from. If you want to REALLY make a statement with your earrings, this is the place to start – your one stop shop for all things bright and bold.
Most earrings are in the $20 – $40 price range.
Saskia & Patrice – https://www.saskiaandpatrice.com/shop-earrings
I met Saskia at The General Collective Markets at the end of last year. She makes all these gorgeous styles by hand/ She also makes incredible dried flower arrangements and is a super-talented event stylist.
Her earrings are priced from $20 – such good value!
Daisy Creative – https://www.etsy.com/shop/daisycreativenz/
I just LOVE the gorgeous colours and shapes the clever Chanel from Daisy Creative creates. Striking yet feminine, which is totally up my alley! Lovely soft colours, with the occasional pop of bright.
All her gorgeous pieces are handmade by her in Nelson and ship nation-wide. Priced from $15.
Heavens to Betsy – https://www.facebook.com/heavenstobetsynelson/
The lovely Jen from Heavens to Betsy has a knack for using simple shapes and colours and turning them into works of art. Her earrings are usually a wood base, with a pop of brightly coloured paint. Everything is hand-painted and she also happens to hail from Nelson (must be the statement earring capital of NZ!)
These cute earrings are usually around $25
Mrs Rockett – https://www.mrsrockett.com/
There is so much heart behind Mrs Rockett, the label created by my beautiful friend Zoe. She is just so bloody talented! Her pieces are inspired by the beauty of New Zealand, with her latest collection taking on the shapes of some of our best known lakes and landmarks.
These incredible pieces start at $20 with stunning gold plated pieces from $75.
Jewel Sparkle – https://jewellsparkle.com/
Jewel Sparkle is the creative outlet for the lovely Juliet, based in Auckland. She loves playing with different mediums and materials to bring you a range of gorgeous statement earrings from fabric to acrylics, she’s also happy to make to order so get in touch if you want something special.
Prices start atย $15.
Hooley Dooley Earrings –ย https://www.instagram.com/hooleydooleyearrings/
The lovely Laura is the talent behind Hooley Dooley. While they are a wee side hobby for this all round creative sort, there are still heaps of amazing shapes and colours to choose from (and once again, she’s based in Nelson!). These amazing acrylic designs are all hand-drawn by Laura, and then cut to shape – amazing huh!
Simply pop onto her Instagram page and DM her to order. Prices start at $30
Hagen & Co – https://www.hagenandco.co.nz/shop/
Again, another General Collective Market find, I love the glitter in these gorgeous earrings (you know me and sparkle). Hagen & Co is a delightful mother and daughter team who band together to make pretty earrings to bring some shimmer and light to our earlobes. Love it!
Priced from $39
Hark Handmade – https://harkhandmade.com/
These STUNNING earrings have been worn by the likes of Jacinda Ardern and Anika Moa – and the lovely Hollie, the lady behind the label, is bloody talented! Bold colours and amazing prints are the signature style of these polymer clay masterpieces. Once again, I found these beauties at the General Collective Markets (definitely the the place to find these treasures, that or Nelson apparently haha!)
Oh and she also runs workshops so you can make your own amazing earrings too (sign me up once lockdown is done!)
note: Hollie has told me that she is putting a WHOLE bunch of new styles up online this weekend so make sure you follow her on Instagram for updates.
Earrings are prices around the $30-$50 mark and workshops are $120.
Phew! So that’s quite a list so now there are NO excuses for not finding a statement earring style you like!! I LOVE that the majority of these bands are all handmade right here in NZ and that ALL of the brands I’ve mentioned are small NZ businesses.
Now the most important question to ask yourself if which ones to start with!
Until Next Time, In Love & Style Always,
Wow, these designs are beautiful! very artistic, and minimal style. I love the combinations.
Iโve been scouring Instagram for this very topic! Thank you ๐
This is my kind of post! Earrings are my go-to. When combined with blue mascara & Hourglass lipstick I can take on the world. I may have just bought some long donut earrings from Simple Mayhem… Thanks, Cait. Accessory Awesomeness on a very blah Level 3 Thursday.
