Never say never.
I’m pretty open with the fact that I don’t like cardigans. BUT there are definitely some exceptions, I’ll give you that.
Mainly, I don’t like cardigans without any shape or drama to them. People usually feel frumpy in them, and they aren’t fun or flattering.
There is, of course, an exception to every rule – and I make it my mission toĀ find those exceptions.
One such exception is the coat-i-gan. Yes, aĀ “coat” version. It’s basically a cross between a coat (it’s got structure) and a cardi (it’s a knit fabric).
Yes. Ok. It’s basically a long cardigan.
SO – because I’m now slowly allowing some cardigan-type things into my style circle, I thought I’d put together one of my ‘1 item, 4 ways” videos with one.
But I also wanted to show you in more detail how you can re-create these looks yourself! After all, that is really the point of everything I do, to make everyday style easier for you!
So here is the wee vid, and then how to re-create the for looks with current season pieces (everything in the video is from my own wardrobe)
Get the looks
Look #1- Jeans + Tee + Trainers
Everyday mum style. I picked these jeans up from the amazing Anna at Everlasting (a second hand sale page/store) and couldn’t wait to style them!
Jeans, tee and trainers are such a staple go-to for most of us, so here’s a fun and light take on our mum uniform.

Look #2 – Knitwear + midi skirt + boots
Relaxed glam is what I call this look. It’s also pretty much my winter staple look right now! The pleated skirt dresses the whole look up, but the knit and coatigan keep it relaxed for everyday.

Look #3 – Sport Luxe
For someone who doesn’t do much sport, the sport luxe trend is a fave of mine haha (see this blog for more sport luxe inspo).
The other thing I love about this look is the double layering. The trick to getting it right is light layers, which is why this Just Jeans coatigan is perfect! Not too much bulk so it fits well under the denim jacket.

Look #4: Belted over a dress
This is my fave look I think. One of my biggest issues with cardigans in general is that I loose the shape through my waist, a shape I quite like!
So adding a belt solves that problem. I also really love the contrast of the black and white dress against the soft pink!

Four different looks, all for different life situations, but all based around the coatigan. I really love creating these videos for you, to show you how to get the most out of what you may already have in your wardrobe! And remember, you don’t have to wear theĀ exact outfit (although you totally can), but draw inspiration from it, even if it’s just something small.
Now tell me, what’s your fave look, and what would you like to see me use in the 1 item, 4 ways videos to come? I’d love to know so make sure you tell me in the comments below.
Until Next Time, In Love & Style Always,
Love your style… And your up beat attitude… Go you!
Hi
Is there a fix for us short ladies? These look a bit like a raincoat on me!
Ta
Leesa
Ps love you in light pink
yes 100% you just need to find the right length one! Adjust the length to suit your height, so it sits knee length-ish
There are a few shorter ones in Just Jeans (I had one on a client last week who was all of 5ft and it looked amaze!) xx
